Leeds Rhinos are one of Super League’s most successful sides, but once again in a story that has been told many times since the Rhinos last Super League Grand Final victory in 2017, the coach is under pressure.
Rohan Smith’s Rhinos have failed to live up to early season expectations, failing to win their last two games at home. The Rhinos currently sit 8th place on the Super League ladder. Behind the sides two marquee signings, Brodie Croft and Andy Ackers, ex-club Salford Red Devils. The Blue and Amber outfit seems to be failing to connect in attack, scoring the least number of points within the top 8.
In defence, it is a similar story, with the Rhinos letting in too many points to be considered a top side in this season’s Super League. The Rhinos have conceded 122 points so far, and if the last two weeks are going to be the tale of the Rhinos season it is only going to get worse.
Leeds’s next game is against the Huddersfield Giants who sit 6th place in the table and are coming back after a great Challenge Cup weekend where they turned over the Catalan Dragons.
Leeds needs to gain back control on their season, as they definitely have the squad to turn this season around. With many people predicting the Rhinos to finish easily in the Playoff places going into the start of the season.
But if they fail to beat the Giants, once again the longevity of Rohan Smiths Rhinos management career will be in even more jeopardy. With questions already being asked about the Rhinos ability to win the competition with Smith in charge.
However, Smith has proven that once he gets the Rhinos on a charge, he can take them all the way to Old Trafford. But will this not come soon enough for Rhinos fans once again this season.
