This past weekend the Broncos played their last home game of the Super League season, which ended in a heartbreaking loss in golden point extra time to the Leeds Rhinos. With many fans of the sport and Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur stating that the London outfit were the better side.

The Broncos at this moment in time sit at the bottom of the Super League, on equal points with Hull FC who sit directly above them in the table.

At this moment in time whatever the Bronco’s do they will be going down to the Championship due to the IMG ranking system, which after the previous grades put London 23rd in the whole of the rugby league pyramid.

This has raised many questions however, as at this moment in time the Broncos could still by the old system stay in the league, which would be on merit due to the onfield performances of the sides around them. Hull FC in particular have been exceptionally poor this season, whilst preparing for next season.

This shows a flaw in IMG’s ways of onfield performances not being the most important factor, as sides are able to give up on the current season, to focus on the next one without facing the potential punishment of relegation.

London have gone all guns blazing this year with a side that is not fully proffesional, and they have proven many people wrong with how well they have performed. There is an argument to be made that the Broncos should of picked up more wins this season, with great performances like this past weekend.

Do you believe that it is fair for London to go down this season even if they secure what would typically be a place safe from relegation?
