The Argentinian who has only completed two Formula One Grand Prix is now putting himself in the shop window for the last available seat on the grid next year. Only Sauber(Kick/Audi) have a seat free for the 2025 F1 season.
Colapinto impressed this past weekend scoring points at the Azebaijan Grand Prix. Meaning that he has scored more points in his two Formula One starts, than Logan Sargeant has done in his one and a half seasons with the Grove outfit.
James Vowles, Williams Team Principal, in an interview with Motorsport.com stated that “In two races he showed the world he is deserving of a place in Formula One”. With Sauber being the only seat left, this would be Williams only option after they have already signed Carlos Sainz for next season.
Sauber are yet to score points this season, but with the prospect of Audi joining the grid in 2026, it could be a great opportunity for a driver like Franco. But it would also grow the Audi market in South America, particularly Argentina. Which is something that Audi are looking for with the Formula One project.
Sauber are also linked with Mclaren academy driver Gabriel Bortoletto, who at this moment in time is set to go back to back in junior titles. As he leads the Formula Two championship with only a couple of rounds to complete.
