The long awaited start to another Super League campaign is over, and fans of every club are full of anticipation over what could be one of the most exciting Super League campaigns of all time.

It all kicks off on Thursday when the reigning Super League Champions Wigan kick off their campaign for three in a row against local rivals the Leigh Leopards, who look to continue their rise to the top of the table. This game will be live on Sky Sports, with build up starting from 7:30 pm

On Friday we have two intriguing fixtures both kicking off at 8:00pm. One of which is the highly anticpated first look at Hull KR’s bolstered squad that includes Jarred Waerea-Hargreaves and Rhyse Martin, as they look to go one step further than the Grand Final this year. They take on the Castleford Tigers who are looking to prove the doubters wrong and kick-start their campaign against one of the toughest sides to beat in the entire league.

On the same night we also travel to the South of France as the Catalan Dragons begin their season at home to a new look Hull FC side. Catalan are coming off the back of a poor performance in the Challenge Cup against Championship side Halifax, creating a perfect opportunity for the Black and Whites to steal some potentially crucial points at the beginning of this long season. Hull have made some incredible progress off the field in this off-season, but this will be the ultimate test of how far they have come as a side.

On Saturday it is the return of the Trin as they travel to local rivals the Leeds Rhinos, in a 3:00 pm clash at Headingley Stadium. Wakefield stormed the Championship last season, and with the new additions of Mike Mcmeekan and the homecoming of star winger Tom Johnstone many believe that Wakefield could be the next side to take the path of the Leigh Leopards and shock the league by finishing in the top six in their return to the top flight. The Rhinos have been drilled this pre-season with the Brad Arthur reigime fully underway. The Rhinos have improved their squad, and hoping to bring the club back to the glory days. This for us at Sports League is the game to watch this coming weekend, as this game could go either way.

Also on Saturday, St Helen’s take on the Salford Red Devils at 5:30pm. The Red Devils are full of confidence after it was announced this week that they have been taken over by a consortium lead by CEO of Matanel Dario Berta, their new era kicks off with the side travelling to the Totally Wicked stadium. The Saints head into this fixture looking to bounce back from a poor 2024 by their recent standards, and look to put an early end to the so called transitional period that they are currently going through with a good start to their season.

The Weekend ends with the clash of the Burgess’s at 3;00pm on Sunday, where the Warrington Wolves travel to the John Smith’s stadium to take on the Huddersfield Giants. Sam Burgess’s Wolves are looking to build on a very promising 2024, where they finished third in the overall standings, they will be looking to punch a ticket to the Theatre of Dreams later this year, and maybe finally make it their year. The Giants have a lot to prove this season, with the big signing of Tom Burgess they will be looking to try enter the latter stages of the season in play-off contention. And prove the doubters wrong with how serious of a contender they could possibly be.

And thats it for this weekends fixtures in the Super League, predictions will be posted before the game on Thursday. Rugby League is officially back and we at Sports League can’t wait.
